Veterinarian at Barkes Corner & Brookfield
I grew up in Tauranga and spent many holidays at Barkes Corner vets during my college and university years. I finished my vet training at Massey University at the end of 1993 and started my vet career in small animal practice in Auckland. I moved back to Tauranga with my wife Denise in 2000 and have been working at Barkes Corner vets ever since.
Recently I have developed a particular interest in medicine and surgery of birds and unusual pets including rabbits, rodents, reptiles, amphibians and aquarium fish. I have attended many lectures and conferences with emphasis on these very interesting animals. I am a member of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians and the Association of Avian Veterinarians (Australasian Committee). In June 2019 I passed examinations which allowed me to become a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the subject of Medicine and Surgery of Unusual Pets. Only 2 other New Zealanders and 23 other Australian’s veterinarians have achieved this distinction.
