FITTEST
Fittest woke first, after a long sleep, snuggled up in his little warm crevice he warmed with the spring sunshine. Around him the family was rousing. Founder and Fruitful uncurled from where they had been wrapped up together, she with a tummy full of eggs. Feisty needed breakfast and it did not take long for him to find his first feed. Despite the feeble thrashings of Felix Feisty was not to be denied, almost inaccessible and flattened against Felix's rump a juicy liquid breakfast set him up for a days exploration.
He had a nibble at Fido in passing but did not hang around as Fido became quite frantic and besides he wasn't that hungry. Of passing interest only was little Fred's ankle but he moved on when a slapping hand banged around his ears. By now the rest of the whanau were up and about all looking for a feed. One by one they filled their tummies generally not fussy where the refreshment came from nor how much agitation they caused in the process.
Fruitful laid a few eggs as she hopped around. A few annoying little youngsters threatened to upset the family outing but after a while they crawled off to a secluded spot and wrapped themselves up in a warm cocoon and went back to sleep. Frantic, Fetch and Fella encouraged by the sunshine ventured outside, they caught a lift with Fido which saved a lot of hopping and later when Fido's mate called around they set up a game of hop and scratch. Life is simple for the flea family, food and fun.
